Hi birding-aussers,

I counted at least 8 dead Barn Owls on the Princes Freeway between Altona
and Little River yesterday. Surprisingly, a good number of them were in
"suburbia" rather than the more rural stretch.

I have observed a similar situation in Northern Victoria over the last few
weeks.
Whilst driving at night in the rural areas there are Barn Owls everywhere.
Various couonts I have made without trying recently are 8, 14, 20, 12, 6.
This was in the Bridgewater, Kerang, Pyramid Hill, Mitiamo areas.

Ties in with a number of sightings in Melbourne suburbs, reported to
Birdline.

I wonder if there are any Grass Owls amongst them ??

Regards,

Simon Starr.
