The paper by Danny Rogers and others in Emu 105(2) entitled ‘Gull-billed Terns
in north-western Australia: subspecies identification, moults and behavioural
notes’, indicates they have trapped affinis terns in the Broome area in every
month of the year.

I noticed in the latest issue of the journal Forktail a comment attributed to
Danny Rogers that these birds are probably distinct at the species level, but
genetic work has not yet been done.
