Birdline Tasmania

Published sightings for the week ending 25 Sep 2011.

Sat 24 Sep Common Pheasant Midlands Highway, near large dams north of Symmonds Plains Raceway
Single male bird feeding along highway verge, just out of "shelterbelt" trees which divide road from large water storage dams. Pretty sure there were no houses nearby, so possibly an escapee, but more likely a wild (feral) bird??
John Tongue

Sat 17 Sep Grey Goshawk Penguin
Goshawk with fresh kill. Eyes appeared to be blue, although normally a reddish brown?
Peter Russell

Thu 8 Sep Grey Goshawk sidling near Scotsdale
White bird of hawk like dicription seen while travelling to Launceston. Had no other markings that could be seen. Did not now of any white hawks untill I read your imformation on the grey goshawk.
Robyn Tingle
