Whilst volunteering with a group from Birds Qld assisting Dr
Aila Keto and the Springbrook Rescue Project,I mentioned that on a recent trip
to Moreton Island (July 22-24) I and 2 other birders saw a few Leaden
Flycatchers. Both males and females were sighted at Bulwar and near the
Tangalooma Wrecks. It appears from our discussions that these may be early
arrivals from northerly
migrations.

Where do they go and when do they return?

Further to this we had lovely views of a Black(Satin)-necked
Stork.A single bird was on the lagoons near Yellow Patch north west coast of
Moreton Island. The
views were further enhanced by a graceful display of wing movements as the said
Stork coaxed a school of leaping fish into a tiny school for easier pickings.
