Oh, and I forgot about Denise's advice. My wife and I were doing some language work with the Garrwa people at Robinson River, which is about two hours south of Borroloola - and in the heart of Garrwa and of Carpentarian Grasswren country. We were collecting Garrwa bird names using a field guide, and when I came to Carpentarian Grasswren, the old ladies we were working with recognised it immediately, one of them saying, 'Oh, that's the bird that comes hopping by when you're having a nap by a creek during the day' (or words to that effect). They're in the heart of the escarpment country. Indeed, Garrwa country coincides with most of the Carpentarian Grasswren range. I've always though that if the Kalkadoon is named after the people of the land where it occurs, then Carpentarian should be renamed Garrwan Grasswren.
