There's actually a pair there David. You occasionally see them sitting laughing away to each other on a light pole above the bus stop on McArthur street. The people waiting for the bus find them most amusing.

This morning I emerged from the Collins Street end of Parliament Station to find a light drizzle and a Laughing Kookaburra enjoying some food scraps in
an alcove at the side of Alcaston House (on the western side of Spring
Street.

I have seen Kookaburras in the Treasury Gardens on the eastern side of
Spring Street, and I saw one flying above Flinders Lane, but this is the
first time I have seen a Kookaburra in amongst the bricks and mortar of the
city proper.
