Hi Nikolas,

During seawatches off Maroubra from 1995 to 2005, when I logged over 2,000,000 seabirds, there were over 400 Great-winged Petrel records, with a very clear and significant bunching of records in July, almost always with strong onshore winds. There was a smaller peak in April. They weren't seen every year, but in about half of the years there were significant numbers such as those seen by you and Dave. This suggests there may be a regular passage in the middle of winter.

Cheers,

Rod Gardner
