Dave Mould is a duck rescuer/campaigner who's been on the wetlands every
weekend this season. His interview on Radio National's 'Life Matters' is
available here:http://www.abc.net.au/rn/lifematters/stories/2011/3234826.htm
This year, it's been possible to follow what's happening on the wetlands by
reading Dave's tweets and Facebook updates. Go to Coalition Against Duck
Shooting on Facebook or Twitter @duckrescue.
Here are some from tonight:
Geelong has been filled with shooters, it seemed they outnumbered
the ducks. Rescuers have been working flat out to save as many ducks as
possible but the wounded are all too often lost in the reeds and the shooters
aren't bothering to look.

Illegal shooting was witnessed after hours
tonight (Saturday). The victims were left where they fell. A wounded female
Wood Duck has just been brought in by a rescuer. The bird has a badly shot wing
and will likely be euthanased by a vet. If the rescuer hadn't acted, this bird
would have been left to die a painful death over the next week.

3 rescuers were just given trumped up charges
by a DSE wildlife officer we believe to be a member of Field & Game Australia
and a duck shooter. The same sorts of charges rescuers have
been fighting for 25 years and will continue to fight until recreational duck
shooting is banned in Victoria.
-Dave Mould, Coalition Against Duck Shooting
A small flock of Freckled Ducks flew over us at
Hirds (Swamp) around 11.30 this morning. Rescuers heard a shooter tell his son
'those are the ones we must never shoot' but his words were drowned out by the
gunfire. When a Freckled Duck fell in to the reeds wounded, every shooter rushed
to deny responsibility but no-one rushed to help the rescuers search. The duck
has still not been found.
