The link is to a photo of a Blue-billed Duck, found on the weekend. It is quite
decomposed but unmistakeable.
This is the species list for birds found on McDonalds Swamp and Hird Swamp.
Game ducks:
Hardhead - 12
Grey Teal - 7
Pacific Black Duck - 1
Protected species:
Blue-billed Duck
Magpie
Purple Swamphen
Eurasian Coot - 3
Totalling 20 ducks, shot and illegally left on the water and six protected
species.
This cruel 'sport' is one that all birdwatchers should abhor. It's as bad as
the cattle torture in Indonesia, except no one's there to bear witness.
