Rescuers from Coalition Against Duck Shooting found a starving Sharp-tailed Sandpiper on Jack Smith Swamp, near Yarram, Victoria, on the weekend. Duck hunting is permitted here, which may be why it hadn't fed sufficiently. The sharpie was weak and flapping around in the water. It was caught and taken to Melbourne Zoo, where it was diagnosed as emaciated. It's reportedly doing well. =============================== To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send the message: unsubscribe (in the body of the message, with no Subject line) to: http://birding-aus.org =============================== |
