Whilst guiding at Mt. Lewis last Saturday 23/04/11 our group watched a pair of Atherton Scrubwrens gathering skeletal leaves as lining for their nest which they had almost completed. Their normal breeding season is from October until December. Their nests are generally well hidden usually in grass or ferns on the ground. Last November I located a pair with a nest six metres up behind an Elkhorn Fern at the "Grassy Patch" at Mt. Lewis which was most unexpected.
