I have just spent a few weeks away visiting south west Victoria. As a
result I had quite a few emails to download and read through.
It was great to catch up with species such as Crescent Honeyeater,
Yellow-tailed Black-Cockatoo and Gang-gang Cockatoos and others about
the Grampians and then species such as Olive Whistler, Forest Raven
and Beautiful Firetail about the Otway region. The highlight most
definitely was the sighting of a white morph Grey Goshawk headed west
out of Apollo Bay. There is so much packed into this one little state!
Being in the line for a new pair of binoculars, the recent postings
have been most useful, and the information in them shall be taken on
board when I finally make the step and spend some money.
Being of the understanding that Birding-Aus is not set up to be a
self-promoter of ones own business, or of a commercial orientation
(many take the steps to ensure their post is not seen in such a way),
I find it interesting that one particular posting strongly promotes
one brand providing a link to a 'press release' for the product.
Opening the web site also gives one the impression that the article is
I'm one for sharing information, but to me there is a line between
'sharing info' there is no commercial interest or gain taken and a
'sponsored site', where I assume the promoter is receiving some form
of benefit. To me this steps into the realms of a commercial
promotion. If not, what is the go here?
Regards and good birding to all,
