Good morning all, I see the post from Peter Crow re Bowra opening soon, and
wanted to let everyone know that Kilcowera also opens up again early March
after a reasonably kind summer. No bush fires and more rain!

The country side looks terrific and the drive down from Thargo to here is very
interesting as there is so much to see both in the birdlife but the flora as
well.

We have continued our improvements at Kilcowera with a new lounge area coming
soon for the Quarters, a new laundry, a meathouse museum and some more secluded
campsites along Cardenyabba Lagoon.

There are some beautiful wetland areas not far from the quarters, the creeks
which fill lake Wyara have run several times in the last few months and the
Youlaingee Spring area is looking more like springs again. Exclusive access to
the western side of lake Wyara can be had from KIlcowera so visitors are able
to see at least 2 of the large creeks and the waterholes in them. The pelicans
are back with a rookery on the Lake, directly in front of our access point. As
they are a long way out it is necessary to have a telescope for the best
viewing.

This year I would like to find Halls Babblers again, they should be here given
the good season. About 3 years ago Graeme and Pam Chapman found a small group
of them out west of the house in the mulga, so the search is on! On our water
runs around Zenonie in particular, Chestnut and Cinnamon Quail thrush are
easily seen as you drive along. There's also stacks of lizards and mice!!!
Not too many snakes though.

We hope to see some of you here through out the year, please give private
enterprise a go as well!!! Regards Toni & Greg Sherwin
