Greetings Neil

Yes, of course. Mea culpa, mea culpa. Trying to be too clever for my own
good... BUT "mainly ship assisted"? That I'll need to check up with Lee
Evans.

Cheers

Julian

A minor correction to Julian B's post. The Scilly Islands are about 40 km
off Lands End, Cornwall. I think Julian you are confusing them with the
Channel Islands, Jersey, Guernsey etc. which are a similar distance from the
Cherbourg Peninsula, France.
Most of the 'American' vagrants sighted there are likely ship assisted, the
Scilly Islands being the main landfall for transatlantic vessels. But not to
worry, these birds provide pleasure and interest to many British birders and
help the economy of the island. A bit like the strays on Christmas and Cocos
for Australian birders, not that I think these vagrant birds are ship
assisted.
