BARC has received an excellent submission from Merrick Ekins of an Island Monarch seen and photographed on Cassini Island off the Kimberley coast in WA on 15 October 2010. This species has not previously been recorded as occurring anywhere in Australia other than on the external territory of Ashmore Reef. First seen at Ashmore in 2004, it has now been seen on each Kimberley Birdwatching's annual spring trip since 2007 (4 visits) and was present there in April and November 2010 when up to 4 individuals were present although not seen every day.
