Hi Cliff and all, didn't know if you meant volunteered generally or
volunteered for your particular project. I'm fortunate enough to have
plenty of leave (long service, purchased and the normal) and so volunteer
each year for 2-3 months and combine it with birding in a country. This
year I was involved in habitat restoration work in Sabah, Borneo along the
lower kinabatangan reaches. I find it a terrifically satisfying way to give
something back as well as take something by way of a great birding
experience in a country.
