Date: Friday, October 22, 2010

Location: Pelican Pt, S of Morgan (River Murray)

Regent Parrot (Polytelis anthopeplus) (5) Birds flew from Red Gum on river bank 
inland (W) over me into magnificent River Box woodland on floodplain. I was on 
public road.

Pied Butcherbird (Cracticus nigrogularis) (2) 

River up, filling backwaters. Mozzies aplenty - frogs are on the comeback, but 
not enough to eat enough wrigglers yet! :)

Location: Kingston-on-Murray and environs

Cockatiel (Nymphicus hollandicus) (3) In drowned Red Gums in Murray River 
adjacent to Kingston-on-Murray Caravan Park

Pied Butcherbird (Cracticus nigrogularis) (1) On power lines. Kingston to 
Loxton Road, Wachtels Logoon.

Great Crested Grebe (Podiceps cristatus) (2) Lake Bonney waterfront, Barmera.

Date: Sunday, October 24, 2010

Location: private property adjoining Hale CP, Williamstown area.

Square-tailed Kite (Lophoictinia isura) (1) 2 birds observed flying over a 
ridge-top in Hale CP and over tree canopies on private property.  One bird is 
normally observed, this is the first time I have seen two together.

Nankeen Night Heron (Nycticorax caledonicus) (10) 10 were seen leaving their 
roost site in large Radiata Pines.

Location: Near Kanmantoo, Mt Lofty Ra.

Peregrine Falcon (Falco peregrinus) (3) Two adults with a juvenile - youngster 
still learning ropes but looked quite strong in flight. Parents still defensive 
when I strayed into territory.

house. Hopefully more to come with numbers so high up north this year.

Pair of Red-rumped parrots feeding young high up on a ledge of the old finance 
building, corner Wakefield Street and Victoria Square.

Location: Boundary Road, 5km NE of Owen

Hooded Robin (Melanodryas cucullata) (3) A very uncommon sighting for this 
area, two adults and a juvenile so possibly have bred locally as well.
