Hi Jeremy,Barmah was closed last weekend and probably will be for a while - check the Parks Victoria web site. You can still get into Lake Barmah, but that's about all. All the toilets and the Info Centre were closed. We had a great walk along Broken Creek with Plumed Whistle-ducks and a few Sacred Kingfisher and other interesting birds. Also the nearby disused quarry in John's Bridge Road. Check the sites out on the Echuca and District BOCA website. Don't go into the Barmah Forest from Trickey's Lane though.Nearby Mathoura is good though. The bird hide at the reed beds was great for mating displays of Great Crested Grebe and Musk Duck and you can walk along Gulpa Creek. Elizabeth Shaw Phillip Island Victoria |
