Hi all

I have a photo of the western ssp of the Purple Swamphen up at ABID

http://www.aviceda.org/abid/newimages.php?action=latestimages&p=11&pagesize=1

If that link doesn't work it's on about the fourth line of the new images page.

Now this specimen has a lighter blue front than eastern birds, as ssp bellis is supposed to have, but it also has even paler blue, irregular patches too. I assume that these are some sort of discolouration, not typical for the ssp.

Could WA confirm this and I'll emend my ambiguous note on ABID.
