Good Evening All

Last Saturday Tom Tarrant showed me around his
local patch in the Samford Valley area and we noticed a commotion going on
in a gumtree away from the road, at first we saw a full adult Channel-billed
Cuckoo hanging vertically off the bill of another one and then they tumbled
to the ground and squared off to one another before locking their bills and
wrestling till one had had enough and flew off, it was a truly amazing event
and Tom and I were left stunned by what we had witnessed. I have put
together 5 shots that I took from about 30 of the fight but I did not get
any shots of them in the tree only on the ground

On another note I also attended the Birdfair at Yanco in NSW and was
surprised at the lack of people who attended as the quality of the speakers
and the talks given were excellent, as well as the bird tours on offer.
Personally I would like to see more people supporting this annual event as
the organisers whom are all volunteers do a fantastic job.

Kindest Regards

Geoff Jones
