Yesterday I saw a female Shining Flycatcher from the Mangrove Boardwalk at Coombabah Wetlands on the Gold Coast. I've never seen one south of Cairns but I know there are occasional sightings near Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast. Hanzab records a few sightings from the Tweed River area and the Gold Coast but these are not recent records. Has anyone else seen them south of Brisbane recently? I had two other first sightings yesterday , Forest Kingfisher and White-cheeked Honeyeater, in an area I have been visiting for 28 years, Sharp Park on the Coomera River near Canungra in the Gold Coast hinterland. I see from the archives that another Forest Kingfisher was recorded as having been seen in the area recently at Mt Tamborine . I would like to hear from anyone who has seen either of these 2 species in the Canungra/Tamborine area.
