Hi All Called into the Gulpa Creek Reedbeds at Mathoura NSW yesterday and in the last fortnight the water has entered the reedbeds up around the birdhide. A couple of nice sightings were Great-crested Grebe (1) Blue-billed Duck (1) Hardhead (3) Grey Teal (2) Little Pied Cormorants (3) and a few Swans. Whilst not many birds, there is water everywhere in the forest and paddocks so the birds are quite dispersed. Numerous Pacific Herons seen travelling from Tocumwal to Mathoura. I called back to the car for a cuppa and on returning to search the reeds again the only birds to be seen were the Cormorants.the rest had disappeared into the extensive reeds. Just a matter of timing and good luck. Happy birding everyone.
