Nikolas Haass thought it was a bit early in the season for Masked Lapwing
chicks. Our resident pair have nested three times in succession, on an
island in our dam, since June. The first two clutches hatched and the chicks
left the island and were seen walking around the paddocks for a few days but
haven't been seen since. The third clutch (4 eggs) is due to hatch any day
now.
