Hi all,

Typically, I got the dates incorrect (in my previous message) for the
2010 Victorian Twitchathon. It will be held on the week of 6-7 November
2010. (Thank of all those people pointed it out!)

Also the link to the Australian Birdfair was wrong - see
http://australianbirdfair.org.au. It is worth noting that it will now be
held on the 3rd weekend of September annually, with this years dates
being 17-19 September 2010. They also now have a Facebook page, see
http://www.facebook.com/australianbirdfair.

The Leeton Australian Birdfair is tremendous event, I can highly
recommend it. Last time I was there we had Superb Parrot flying through
the trees in the Birdfair itself. I also got locked into the
Agricultural school across the road, and ended up being 'rescued' by a
lady in a bikini - but that's another story.

Cheers,

Tim

Hi all,

The federal election has just been decided and the Magpies are about to
win the flag, but everyone knows that the main event is yet to come. The
2010 Twitchathon.

In Victoria the dates for the Twitchathon are 5-6 November 2010. There
are 2 races, a 24 hr race and an 8 hr race. So it's time to start
organising your team, chasing sponsorship, and working out your route.
Note that we can allow teams to race on an earlier or later weekend if
these dates are impossible for you to participate.

For documentation see [note that I may haven't had a chance to update
this documentation (in terms of the dates) however it is still
application]:

The major prizes this year are fantastic! A weekend for 2 in Leeton
(NSW) and free entry to the Australian Birdfair (see
http://www.andrewisles.com) AND ornithological texts from Andrew Isles
Natural History Books (see http://www.andrewisles.com). This year we
hope we do better in our money raising activities; last we raised a
record amount! All money raised from the Victorian thon with go to the
mainland Orange-bellied Parrot conservation campaign.

Due to the heavy rains across Australia this year I expect the variety
of birds will be really high, so it looks as though it's going to be a
great year to race.

See you in the bush.
