Today I saw a King Quail near Maroochydore Airport on the Sunshine Coast and heard two King Quails at another site nearby. Both sites are tall grassland in sugar cane country - similar habitat to where I saw Red-backed Buttonquail a few days ago. A pair of Beach Stone-Curlews again showed well in the Maroochy River. It is evident that this species is a good deal easier to find in the cooler weather.
