Hi Chris,

Nice email address!  I have applied for a permit from the Land Council on line
for 'Uluru to the WA border' and will get another for the Mereenie Loop when I
get there - at least it shows I am trying to do the right thing.  Just in case,
do you know who we should contact at Magellan/Santos?

Cheers,

Carl

G'day All, With the number of folks who seem to be headed our way
to twitch the beautiful Princesses, I thought I might just throw in my two bobs
worth as there seem to be a few confused messages about permission. Basically,
in the area we are talking about you can't go anywhere without permission from
somebody and you need to arrange this in advance as it could take some time.
The
Mereenie Loop Pass is the least of your troubles as this is quickly and cheaply
available from the petrol station at King's Canyon, Glen Helen Resort, or
Ntaria
Store (Hermannsburg). Worth remembering that this allows you only to transit
the
road - you can't camp out overnight and you can't leave the road. Anywhere
deeper in the area and you will need a permit from the Central Land Council
(easy to do online but allow some weeks) or permission from one of the mining
lease holders - Magellan/Santos. Happy hunting! Chris Watson Alice Springs
