Top Knot pigeons, Gloucester NSW

Dear birders

Back from China, sitting enjoying the peace of the cooler weather and 
bird song on my back deck, a flight of about 50 Top Knots went over and 
settled in trees along the Gloucester River. Then, commotion, a Collared 
Sparrowhawk circled the trees and about 150 Top Knots exploded and 
separated into two groups, 50 off in one direction and at least 100 in 
another.
Top Knots appear in the Gloucester area every year in April / May, 
usually when the Camphor Laurel trees are fruiting.  White-headed 
Pigeons and Figbirds are also in large numbers - nothing like some 
fruiting exotics to bring them in.
