Further to the recent reports of Noddies, a juvenile Common Noddy was at Woody
Head and later at nearby Back Beach, Bundjalung National Park, north coast NSW,
on Wednesday April 7. There were also 75+ Common Terns in various stages of
moult and one Little Tern in breeding plumage at Woody Head.
Also at Back Beach were 14 Greater Sand Plovers, 14 Lesser Sand Plovers, 14
Ruddy Turnstones (some in full breeding plumage - very impressive), 22
Red-necked Stints, 2 Whimbrels, 2 Striated Herons, 1 Eastern Reef Egret (grey
morph), and a pair of Sooty Oystercatchers with a juvenile.
