Hi Birders
At Buffalo Creek this morning just after dawn, I walked down the boat
ramp, searching the mud on the opposite side of the creek looking for the
rail.
Instead of finding the rail, I found a single Common redshank. It's legs
were clearly orange-red and so was the base of it's bill, with a lightly
streaked breast.
I watched as it walked quickly away up the creek to the right, stopping to
probe every now and then, before again quickly walking/running?
It was then that I saw the rail, less than 10 metres away on the right
side of the ramp. It was briefly probing the mud before returning to the
mangroves.
The water was about 2 metres away from the mangroves
A great but unexpected start to the days birding
