They may also be a problem within their natural range as people continue to feed them, despite all the problems, and their numbers appear to be excessive. It has been suggested that they are out-competing the smaller Scaly-breasted Lorikeet on the New South Wales North Coast. They are an aggressive species and will even stand up to birds larger than themselves.

I am not totally convinced that they are pushing the Scalies out but it is possible.
