Apologies for the delayed posting.  Here is an opportunity for an
academically oriented birder [I was tempted to write
"intelligent" ;) ] who is interested in bird conservation. Note that it would involve working with two high profile ornithologists ....

The student will develop and apply metrics of institutional complexity with respect to threatened bird conservation in Australia. These
metrics will then be used to determine the influence of such
complexity on avian conservation management The student will be part
of a team involved in an Australian Research Council Linkage Grant
Increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of Australian threatened
bird conservation, a highly multidisciplinary project managed by
Professor Hugh Possingham of The University of Queensland and
Professor Stephen Garnett of Charles Darwin University. Further

The person The successful candidate will hold an excellent honours or masters qualification, preferably with a record of publishing.
Applicants’ qualifications should be in ecology, geography or a
discipline that is broadly related to the interaction between human
organisations and the environment. Ideally, the successful applicant
will have some training and experience in natural resource management planning. The successful applicant will commence by May 2010 and,
ideally, will be based at the St Lucia campus of The University of
Queensland.


Remuneration The stipend will be at the APAI rate of $27,222 per annum for 3 years (tax exempt).
