Emus on Bribie Island

G'day,

Chris Sanderson has asked about the status of Emus on Bribie Island (50 
km north of Brisbane, SEQ). Over the last twelve years the population of 
15-20 individuals has dwindled to just one and the last time I saw this 
bird was in May 2009. However, reports still persist and I heard of a 
sighting a few weeks ago of three birds. I have no idea who, or how 
reliable, the observer is but it would be difficult to misidentify an 
Emu wouldn't it? (Note that although I've never seen an Ostrich on 
Bribie Island a tame Peacock goes walkabout every now and then.)
