Greetings,
When hanging out the washing this morning I was alerted to the presence of a
raptor by Masked Lapwing calls. Being less than 100% on the raptor ID I grabbed
my binoculars. No great surprise that it was a Whistling Kite. By then training
my binoculars horizontally I determined that the raptor was about 190 metres
from me. Given the slope of the land and angle of my binocular view, the
lapwings were at least 160 metres off the ground where they were.

Regards,
Alan Gillanders
