Nice shots of the deceased Hooded Pitta- it is certainly NOT one of the New Guinea taxa, as these have little white in the wing and black heads; I think it looks like one of the Asian ones, most probably cucullata which has birds wintering in the Sundas, the brown cap and large extent of white in the wing look good for this. Presumably a bird disoriented or caught up by a cyclone, a shame it was defunct! Who'd have thought it, WA the go to place for aussie pittas!
