As well as taking the 4WD, a long handled shovel (so you can dig under
the middle of the car) I would take a tyre pump and gauge. Even a
el-cheapo special 12V is better than nothing; a good one will be $150
upwards - but is more likely to survive. It will also be much faster to
reinflate your tyres.

????? Why? Because you need low tyre pressures in sand  - even down to
15psi. Lots of stuck vehicles have been rescued just by letting the
tyres down and driving out. You won't be driving long distances at high
speed; just remember to pump them up later.
