Hi everyone,
This afternoon I spent a couple of hours at Herdsman Lake, northwest of
Perth CBD. It was sunny and warm, but a little windy. However, there was
good diversity around with 53 species being recorded. The highlight was the
Black-tailed Native-hen that has been here for weeks, on the western tip of
the island near the kids playground on the eastern side of the lake. I spent
the last half hour of light sitting beside the wildlife/wetland centre
watching the Nankeen Night-Herons leave their roost and fly around the lake
looking for places to feed. A very enjoyable afternoon.
