Hey Geoff,
Last time we were there, about three weeks ago, the Black Honeyeaters were
very high in the canopy - in tall trees on the edge of the clearing about
200m or so from the main road. We probably saw 10-12 of them.
The Fuscous Honeyeaters were in trees on the side of the railway line in a
culvert on the southern side. Probably 20 or so of them.
To be honest, you're probably better off in Kamarooka for both species.
Black Honeyeaters in flowering gums along Campbell Road (between
Bendigo-Tennyson Road and Millwood Road). Fuscous Honeyeaters at the dam at
the intersection of Camp and Millwood Roads - towards the end of the day
when they come in to drink. I'm not sure how good the light would be for
photography at that dam at that time of day, though...

Subject: Painted Honeyeater and Little Lorikeet
I visited Dunach Conservation and Nature Reserve near Clunes Vic on Sunday
and thanks to Brian Johnson I was able to locate 5 Painted Honeyeaters. Also
seen were about 12 Little Lorikeets and at least 20 Purple-crowned as well
as 20-30 Yellow-tufted Honeyeaters, but no Black or Fuscous Honeyeaters and
I was there all day. Regards Geoff
