Hi Folks,
We have seen movements of Pacific Bazas during August when we lived in
Cairns, 13 birds heading north. We have also have a pair of Bazas
nesting near the Lodge, one of the young fledged yesterday the other
bird is still in the nest. We could hear the newly fledged bird calling
from the rainforest whilst one of the adult birds was nearby catching
insects and frogs which it took to the nest. The adult birds are quite
scruffy with white blotches on the back and missing wing feathers, as
Tom described, which is a result of crashing into trees to get food for
the youngsters. If you want to see how quickly the chicks developed over

Presumably the same pair nested in the same tree last year and raised 2
chicks which fledged on the 29th December.
