Hi all
1st sighting of the year for me from my house today - 1 November - at 12:45. A smallish flock of 20ish birds, quite low. No other swifts in there that I could see. Checking my records for the 11 "swift seasons" I have lived here, this is the earliest sighting by 11 days (doesn't mean they haven't been around of course, just that I haven't seen them.) Also from the house this weekend (between ferrying my kids around to various events) a Peregrine (twice), Brown Goshawk, Collared Sparrowhawk, a Koel seems to have taken up residence on the district (taken a long time this year), a Kookaburra helping itself to the young stink bugs on my grapefruit and lemon trees and the Boobook Owl was calling again overnight.
Cheers
Tom Wilson
