We've been seeing hundreds and hundreds of BTNHs through the mid north
of SA. Thousands in the wetland in the Middle of Pt Pirie, Hundreds on a
settling pond just west of Laura on the Beetaloo Rd, Hundreds on
Yookamoorundie Creek where it crosses the Crystal Brook - Gulnare Rd,
etc etc.

At the Beaudesert Racecourse today a group of birders from Ribble
Birding Tours (UK) and I saw a Black-tailed Native-hen. It was on a
small island in the lake adjacent to the racecourse. Beaudesert is south

west of Brisbane and about 40km inland from the Gold Coast. Sightings of

them in the area are extremely rare. There is also a Freckled Duck there

which has been hanging around of and on for months.
