Hi Steve,

Yes, I just saw one 45 minutes ago at Royal Park in downtown central
Melbourne!!! Also calling nearby was a Rufous Songlark, first seen
Wednesday! I've not recorded either of these species at this site
previously.

As an indication of how unusual this is, both the Rufous Songlark and
White-winged Triller are new birds for my VicTwitch09 list i.e. I'd not
seen either previously in Victoria this year.

My feeling is that it's going be one of THOSE years! I'd mentioned
previously on Birding Aus a few days ago that Black-tailed Native-hen,
Brown Songlark (both seen at Royal Park!), Baillon's Crake (along with
the WW Triller) have been in reported widely, and also things like
Crimson Chat, Cockatiel, Scarlet Honeyeater and White-headed Pigeon are
all turning up in southern Victoria in good numbers. Of course, another
question is WHY this year. . . .

Cheers,

Tim Dolby

Hi folks,

Has anyone else noticed that White-winged Trillers are being seen in
almost
plague proportions in the southern parts of Australia in the last few
weeks??

Winter has been good to them!
