Hi all,
I'm currently in South Australia and have been for the last eight weeks or so.
I've noticed the Birdline entries about Black-tailed Native-hens in Victoria
and over the last couple of weekends, at least, I've seen Black-tailed
Native-hens at almost every place I've been to, especially if there is water
nearby. They are usually a rarity at home in Victoria and worth noting.
Is this an unusual year for them in South Australia as well or are they usually
more common than Purple Swamphens in SA?
I've seen BTNHs on Plumbago Station (north of Mannahill, Thompson's Beach,
Clare, Rock's Reserve near Balaklava and at a small dam between Riverton and
Marrabel. I almost drove over one and saw a few that had been skittled.
Just wondering?
