 I have just returned to Sydney after a wonderful tour of north west 
Victoria. I spent from 1 to 5 September in the northern part of Wyperfeld 
National Park and saw Major Mitchell's Cockatoos in a number of locations. 
The first was a bird flying beside the car as we passed through 
Patchewollock on our way into the park, which was a good omen. We stayed in 
the O'Sullivan's Pine Plains Lodge, which is located on private property 
within Wyperfeld, and a Major Mitchell's Cockatoo came in each day, usually 
in the evening, to feed on seeds some 15 metres behind the Lodge. I also saw 
a single bird fly over the Casuarina Campground, two at the 'Snowdrift' and 
a group of seven in a mixed flock with Galahs on the Jenkins Track.
 This was my first trip to this area, and I saw many birds which were lifers 
for me. It is a wonderful place, especially at the moment as there has been 
some rain, and the park is very green.
