I used this guy for a day in KK he spends a lot of time up Kinabalu and is a really good, nice guy.

Phil Chin

        work

For Lower Kinabatangang River I recommend

Robert Chong
        work

Though I haven't met him, everyone I know stays with him on LKR: he is the guy who will find you Bornean Ground Cuckoo and pittas.

I'd also recommend a couple of nights at (the expensive) Borneo Rainforest Lodge in Dannum Valley: Use WANG KONG as your guide here.

If you do want to go here, let me know and I'll furnish an introduction which may help.

If you need more let me know.

Alan

Hi all,

I'm visiting Borneo in October, and will have 2 small windows to do my own thing while I'm there. I will have an overnight stay in Sandakan and was thinking an overnight trip on the Kinabatang River, and 2 nights in the Kota
Kinabalu area to spend at Kinabalu Park. I would love to hear
recommendations from people of tours/tour guides they have used in these
areas to help me make up my mind. I'm looking for someone who knows their
birds but can also talk about the other animals and plants.

Regards,
Chris
