Two pelagic trips are being organised from Albany.  But we need minimum numbers.  Please reply to Alan Collins.

Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th October: Albany Pelagic Trips

Meet at Emu Point Boat Harbour, Albany at 6:45 am for a 7:00 am departure. We will travel off shore to the edge of the shelf looking for seabirds: Albatross, Petrels and Shearwaters and return at around 4pm.  You never know what could be seen from Albany.  We have only run 5 trips over 6 years.  Wandering Albatross, Yellow-nosed Albatross, Black-browed Albatross, Shy Albatross, Flesh-footed Shearwater, Great-winged Petrel have been seen on every trip so far.  Other species include Sooty Albatross (1 trip), Grey Petrel (1), Black-bellied Storm-Petrel (1), Sooty Shearwater (2), White-headed Petrel (2), Kerguelen Petrel (1), Campbell's Albatross (2), Grey-headed Albatross (1), Arctic Tern (1), Short-tailed Shearwater (1), Wilson's Storm-Petrel (most trips), Hutton's Shearwater (2), Soft-plumaged Petrel (most trips including a dark morph), etc.

There is a limit of 18 people for the boat and if we get enough people we will run trips on both days. The final cost has not been fully determined.  It will depend on the number of people, and whether there are enough people for both trips to go ahead.  The estimated cost (assuming one trip goes ahead) is $140 if there are 18 people, $150 for 17 people, $160 for 16 people and $170 if there are 15 people. Bring your binoculars, camera and lunch.

Book by contacting Alan Collins on   or (08) 9291 4219.

Please indicate which day (Sat or Sun) you would prefer or if you want to go on both trips.

Note: If we only have enough people for one trip, then if the trip is cancelled on the Saturday due to weather, then we will try for Sunday.  If there are enough people for two trips, then each trip will depend on the weather.  If you only want to go on one trip on Saturday, but you would go on Sunday if Saturday is cancelled, then let Alan know.

If you have already informed Alan that you want to go, then please reconfirm.

I will send suggestions for accommodation, and we can talk about shared transport and accommodation later when we know how many trips there will be
