I did a return driving trip from Darwin to Cairns in Jun – Jul and just
completed my bird list.
Total of 137 birds and there were 26 new species for me (in bold font).
The trip route was as followed:

Camooweal, Qld – via Gregory Downs – Lawn Hill National Park, Qld

Chillagoe-Mungana Caves National Park, Qld – Cairns, Qld
Whilst in Cairns, only saw Masked Lapwings and Silver Gulls on the sand at the
Esplanade. No other birds seen the day after either. I think the huge US
warship docked there for a few days scared all the birds away!
