Hi David,
The website you mention has only just gone live and is an initiative of
a cluster of birding accommodations and tour guides here in Far North
Queensland (FNQ) who are dedicated to birding tourism as their main
business. Whilst the cluster of accommodations and tour guides supplied
the information and photos for the website, the funding for this was
from tourism bodies Tropical Tourism North Queensland, Tourism
Queensland and Townsville Enterprises Ltd. The cluster put together and
funded a Bird Trails Tropical Queensland brochure that can be downloaded
from the website.
The website has some fine tuning to be done and will be officially
launched in Cairns in August.
It is hoped that the information on the website and the bird trails will
help birders have an enjoyable and rewarding experience in FNQ and shows
that like minded people in the core bird tourism business can work
together to provide a good information source for visiting birders.
