Some of the birds on Tiritiri would now be extinct if it weren't for  
enclosures: Stitchbird, Saddleback and Takahe.

otherwise. Most people enjoy the trip to and ticking away on Tiritiri  
Matangi Island in the Hauraki Gulf but it is still for the purpose of  
description "an enclosure" and most birds they have re-introduced there  
have names for heavens sake!
 
 
Also agree DOC have done wondrous work and I would hope it is contagious.

That said, Ulva Island in particular, and Stewart Island in general,
