Hi folks

Thanks to those who took the time to respond to my request.
A couple people suggested the only place to head for birding
during Vic Winter was Qld, but that was out of the question.

Anyway, we hit the road for just over a week and visited areas
of the mallee, riverland and also got as far as Broken Hill.
My interest is in photography more than ticking and I got some
good photo opportunities. I love travelling this country of ours!

Birding was quiet at times due to windy/wet/stormy weather
early on. No complaints about the green grass, special Winter
lighting and rainbows though. Birding highlights for me:

Mildura Vic - Black Swans with young cygnets, Pied Butcherbird

Buronga NSW - close views of Striped Honeyeaters

Silverton NSW - many Apostlebirds and Corellas

Menindee NSW area - Red Tailed Black Cockatoos, Blue Bonnets,
White Winged Fairy Wrens, Mallee Ringnecks, Major Mitchell
Cockatoos (numerous groups sighted while driving from
Menindee to Wentworth).

Having a soft spot for little birds I was pleased to come across
Jacky Winters in various places, as well as Sittellas, treecreepers
and Weebills.

I wasn't chasing anything in particular and was very pleased
with what views and photo opportunities I did have.

I thought people might enjoy browsing photos from my trip:
