The concept of imprinting in baby birds is well-established
in popular culture, to judge by tonight's episode of "Shaun
the Sheep". He observed some hen's eggs hatch, in the absence
of the hen with the result that the chicks followed him
everywhere. Matters were resolved by providing the bereft hen
with a woolly vest.
